Advanced Course on Joint Modeling with Longitudinal and Survival Data

Advanced course on joint modeling with longitudinal and survival data

The course «An Introduction to the Joint Modeling of Longitudinal and Survival Data, with Applications in R», co-organized by GRIDECMB, ICBUSC, I-Biostat (UHasselt and ULeuven) and Biostatech, will be held from February 19 to 21, 2018 in Santiago de Compostela.

The course will be taught by Dimitris Rizopoulos, a prestigious biostatistician and professor at the Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam-Netherlands).

The scientific committee is made up of: Carmen Cadarso Suárez (USC), Francisco Gude Sampedro (CHUS), Geert Molenberghs (Interuniversity Institute for Biostatistics and statistical Bioinformatics: I-Biostat), and the main teacher.

The course will last 20 hours and will be held at the USC School of Medicine. It is aimed at applied researchers (statisticians, biologists, economists, among many other disciplines) and graduate students, and will provide a complete introduction to the highly novel Joint Modeling models, with great potential for analyzing longitudinal and survival data. The course will present a balanced curriculum of theory and practice, and requires prior training in statistics. The software to be used will be Rstats, and the packages JM and JMBayes.

The event is organised by the USC Interdisciplinary Group on Biostatistics (GRIDECMB), the USC Interdisciplinary Center of Biostatistics (ICBUSC), the Interuniversity Institute of Biostatistics and statistical Bioinformatics, I-BioStat, of the Belgian Universities of Hasselt and Leuven, and the biostatistics and applied statistics company: Biostatech.
