📢 Biostatech Presents Advances on the Health Impact of Únicla Milk at SEMERGEN

Dr. María Pata, Scientific Director at Biostatech, recently participated in the National Congress of the Spanish Society of Primary Care Physicians (SEMERGEN). During the medical event, she delivered an oral presentation on the nutritional intervention trial titled “Effect of Unicla dairy consumption on serum markers and the fatty acid profile of the erythrocyte membrane”.

The study was developed in collaboration with Ismael Martínez Lede, Head of Innovation at CLUN Cooperativa Rural Galega. The research explores how the nutritional quality and composition of dairy fat in Unicla and Unicla A2 products positively impact the metabolic profile after a period of continued consumption.

As Ismael Martínez Lede highlighted in a recent interview with La Voz de Galicia: “It is the cooperative’s members who build the quality that defines Únicla A2”, emphasizing the importance of livestock management and raw material origin in the final health benefits of the product.

Key Clinical Trial Findings

Among the most relevant conclusions drawn from the scientific and biostatistical analysis, the following stand out:

  • Increase in cardioprotective fatty acids: An increase of up to 31% in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) levels and its precursor isomer was observed in the erythrocyte membrane.
  • Nutrient profile optimization: Markedly favorable trends in Omega-3 (ALA) and selenium levels.
  • Maintenance of metabolic stability: Stable glucose and total cholesterol indicators after months of daily intake.
  • A paradigm shift in nutritional advice: The findings reinforce the need to evaluate the composition and quality of dietary fat—rather than just quantity—in clinical practice and health recommendations.

Agri-food Innovation Backed by Scientific Evidence

This project highlights how applied research originating from cooperative production translates into solid scientific evidence. The initiative reflects CLUN’s decisive commitment to innovation in the dairy farming sector, as well as Biostatech’s dedication to providing maximum methodological rigor and data analysis in food and biomedical research.

From Biostatech, we congratulate our Scientific Director on her presentation at SEMERGEN and express our gratitude to the entire team at CLUN Cooperativa Rural Galega, especially Ismael Martínez Lede, for their trust in us.
