We are pleased to share our participation in a new prospective multicenter study published in PLOS ONE regarding operational tolerance after liver transplantation.

📄 “Operational tolerance after liver transplantation: FOXP3 mRNA and clinical markers for safe immunosuppression withdrawal”

This work, with Gloria LĂłpez-DĂaz as the lead author, delves into the role of FOXP3, a central axis in regulatory T-cell biology and immunological tolerance mechanisms. This axis is part of fundamental discoveries in immunoregulation that have transformed modern precision medicine.

At Biostatech, we actively contributed to the project through key methodological contributions:

  • Longitudinal modeling: Application of advanced flexible mixed models for tracking molecular biomarkers over time.
  • Robust predictor selection: Identification of key variables in high-dimensional contexts.
  • Clinical Machine Learning: Development of machine learning predictive models aligned with clinical practice to identify profiles for safe immunosuppression withdrawal.

Congratulations to Gloria López-Díaz, as well as José Antonio Pons, José I. Herrero, and Alberto Baroja-Mazo for their leadership in this research, which moves toward real personalized medicine strategies.
